#Selfcare is trending and has been for some time. Often framed as an indulgence, self-care is actually a solid investment in our physical, emotional, and mental well-being — and contributes directly to our personal and professional success.
Ideas for refilling our cups seem to be everywhere, from T-shirt slogans to social media posts, bumper stickers, and coasters. With such abundant access to self-care products and recommendations, how do so many women find themselves frustrated instead of refueled?
I’ve heard clients and friends alike express frustration at the lack of significant or lasting benefits after committing to regular self-care practices for a time. There’s a good reason for this! Too often, our self-care choices don’t align well with what we actually need to balance the stress in our lives.
There’s a big difference between self-care and savvy self-care. What makes self-care savvy? The distinction is found in how well aligned our self-care practices are with our authentic needs.
